Falafels have been a favorite of ours for as long as we can remember. Homemade, will of course always be number one. But, there is so much you can do with them, and there are so many ways to eat them. The authentic falafels are made by using chickpeas which have been soaked and ground up. Then, after being seasoned with garlic, parsley, cumin, salt, and pepper, they are made into patties or little balls to be deep-fried. One of the simplest ways to eat falafel is in a pita bread with some fresh veggies to garnish it topped with hummus or tahini. Why not get creative and add a twist to your traditional falafel? You can even use a variety of beans to make your falafel instead of using chickpeas. Adding other yummy ingredients like pistachios, walnuts, beets and sweet potatoes can be an alternative to the usual flavors. If you're up for it, you can also bake them, instead of frying, or if you're feeling creative, you can make falafel loaves instead of patties! Here are a list alternative ways to prepare and serve falafel: [caption id="attachment_3331" align="alignright" width="300"]Capture Falafel-stuffed peppers with a coconut dill sauce[/caption] 1.
